Greenwich Schools appoints Director of Transportation, effective immediately
Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr Toni Jones announced Thursday that she had appointed Elmer Reynoso as the new district transport director, effective immediately.
In this role, Mr Reynoso will oversee and coordinate all aspects of transport for children from public and non-public schools in Greenwich, including to and from school and special activities.
Reynoso replaces Vicki Gregg, who left Greenwich Schools for an away opportunity earlier this year.
“We are very happy that Elmer is officially joining us at GPS,” said Dr. Jones. “His experience, qualifications and familiarity with our wonderful community make him a natural fit for an extremely vital position that manages a large and complex transportation system. “
Reynoso’s duties include maintaining a system of communication with all schools; regularly inspecting buses and bus routes in the field to ensure that schedules are respected, that stops are made and that buses are operating safely; plan and implement bus safety programs in all public and non-public schools; working with the Greenwich Police Department and the City Traffic Engineer to keep students safe; and attend all meetings of the Transportation Advisory Committee, which serves as the liaison between the committee and the school system.
“My professional experience has allowed me to take an in-depth look at all aspects of the GPS transport system,” said Reynoso. “Our buses are the students’ first and last interaction of their school day. I hope to help make them big on a daily basis.
Reynoso has been involved with school transportation in the City of Greenwich since 2011 and most recently served as Terminal Manager for Student Transportation of America (STA), managing over 150 staff.
He has held several positions at STA including bus driver, dispatcher and bus safety instructor.
Reynoso held a key role as a GPS consultant for TransPar Group, the largest school bus management, consultancy and consultancy firm in North America, from 2016 to 2017.
