Halifax police charge man with guns, driving offenses after chase
HALIFAX – A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges after an incident early Monday morning in north Halifax.
Police said at around 12:15 a.m. on June 28, patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Barrington Street.
Police said the driver did not stop and headed towards Rector Street where the vehicle came to a stop after hitting a stop sign. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Officers stopped the driver a short distance from the vehicle and seized a quantity of alcohol, a gun and magazines.
Jared Alexander Taylor, 26, appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday to face charges of:
possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
unauthorized possession of a firearm
possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is not authorized
unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
dangerous storage of a firearm
three counts of possessing a weapon or ammunition contrary to a court order
malfunction of a means of transport
impairment of the functioning of a means of transport at more than 80 mg%
two counts of violation of a court order
