NOPD arrest suspect linked to nighttime shooting near the French Quarter | WGNO.com
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – On Friday night, the New Orleans Police Department announced that it began investigating a shooting near Canal Street and Carondelet’s 100 block, around 9 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a local hospital by EMS.
Shortly after, police found a second man with gunshot wounds in the hip and he arrived at the hospital on his own.
Police discovered a third male victim who had a gunshot wound to his leg, he was also taken to hospital.
During the investigation, police learned that two male subjects approached the scene and allegedly started firing shots which hit the three male victims.
Shortly after the incident, a man was reportedly seen getting into a vehicle in an attempt to escape officers.
The subject, formally identified as Shawn A. Breaux Jr., was arrested shortly thereafter.
A second suspect has fled and is still at large.
Breaux was incarcerated at the Orléans Parish Justice Center for two counts of criminals in possession of a firearm, one count of illegal handling of a machine gun, one count of aggravated flight of an officer and a chief illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
