Section Competition Results for Peoria Area Athletes
TREMONT – sophomore Cambria Geyer won three events to help the hosts finish second on Thursday at the Class 1A Tremont Section Athletics Competition.
El Paso-Gridley won the tag team title, winning three races and advancing individually in eight events and three relays to the state finals next weekend in Charleston.
The Titans scored 127 points, nearly doubling runner-up Tremont (64). Henry / Midland was third (60) while Illini Bluffs and Havana finished tied for fourth in the 14-team section.
Geyer highlighted a strong performance from the hosts winning the 200 meters (26.65 seconds), 400 (1: 00.03) and 100 hurdles (: 15.38) – all with personal bests.
Tremont also won the 4×200 (1: 56.68) and received a title from junior Sophia Sumer in the pole vault (3.35 meters, or 11 feet). Abby Scott, Kate Freidinger, Whitney Rumbold and Talia Meyer raced in the 4×200. The Turks also qualified for the 4×100, with a second place.

El Paso-Gridley senior Tristyn Grube was a four-event state qualifier. She was second in the 100, 200 and long jump and raced in the Titans’ winning 4×100 relay.
The individual El Paso-Gridley winners were Jenna Kent in the 1600 (5: 55.45) and Tori Witzig in the 300 hurdles (: 49.63).
Illini Bluffs junior Aubrey Brinkman was a two-time winner, winning both the shot put (10.48 meters or 34 feet, 4.5 inches) and the discus (37.32 meters, 122-5) with personal bests .
Peoria Heights sophomore Jaela Pierson won the 100, with a personal best 12.79.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw won the 4×800 in 11: 37.09 with the quartet of Kaitlyn Burge, Abby Sauder, Skylar Hegwood and Bridget Huizenga.

Henry / Midland junior Nakeita Kessling rose to status in three events as she won the long jump (PR 5.21 meters, 17-1), was second in the 400 and ran in the 4×400 relay team winner.
Dee-Mack rookie Kaitlyn Burge advanced to the 800s and 1600s with a second place overall.
Havana won victories for Krista Koke senior in 800 (2: 26.87) and Kalei McDaniel in 3200 (12: 55.52).
The other individual winners were Belle Kelly, Illini Central sophomore in high jump (1.52 meters, 4-11.75) and senior Delavan Savannah Robinson in triple jump (9.50 meters, 31-2 ).
