Several transport-related services now available online in J & K’s Poonch
Several transport-related services in Poonch District in Jammu and Kashmir can now be used online. Services including registration of new vehicles, learning test for vehicles, new vehicle registration plates among others will be available on a web portal. Poonch’s deputy regional transport officer Anzar Ahmed said more than 60% of the transport department’s services will now be available to people at their doorstep.
“More than 60% of services are now without a physical appointment. Over time, once all of the changes are complete, our office will become faceless, ”he said.
Reiterating the goal of the motor vehicle department to use the technology, he said, “Our goal was to make the transportation office faceless, meaning less physical meetings. We wanted to reduce office traffic and provide home services to people. “
He further informed that as COVID-19 restrictions eased, the office rush increased.
Locals said it was a long-awaited decision and praised the authorities for the move.
