Soon the redevelopment of the old Manor circuit
MANOR (Austin Business Journal) – When the Manor Downs race track was in its prime, thousands of guests filled the grandstands and turf club on race days, or made their way to the Oval Track for concerts, which attracted Willie Nelson, the Grateful Dead, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Cash.
But now, more than a decade after its last horse race, the since-closed track is heading into new life that’s emblematic of the Austin Metro’s rapid economic growth, as an industrial park that the developers hope to serve. one of the city’s next growth nodes. .
Dallas-based Dalfen Industrial LLC announced on September 22 that the company had acquired the 146-acre park, located on Hill Lane near National Highways 130 and 290 and Manor High School, with the intention of turning the land into a huge industrial park with six buildings that total over 1 million square feet of space.
The site acquisition was the product of more than a year of work, according to Tyler McElroy, the company’s director of development and construction, who said they were almost entirely drawn to the location. They hope to start construction next year and open by the third quarter in 2023.
