Texas State University named one of the best “military” schools in the country for 2021-2022 – Corridor News
SAN MARCOS – Texas State University has been named one of the Top 10 Military-Friendly Schools for 2021-2022 by MilitaryFriendly.com.
The state of Texas ranked number six among Tier 2 research institutions ranked for the services they provide to veteran students and families. The full list will be published in the May issue of IM Jobs magazine.
Melissa Hyatt, Associate University Registrar and Co-Chair of the Veterans Advisory Council attributes TXST’s high ranking to dedication and multi-departmental effort
“This group forms the Veterans Advisory Council (VAC), which includes the Veterans Office, Inclusive-Student Institutional Excellence Initiatives, the Veterans Academic Success Center, the Veterans Alliance at TXST and others, ”Hyatt said. “Programs such as the Two-Step Veteran Program, Welcome and Graduation Receptions, the creation of EDP 2150 for Veterans and the Veterans and Connected Military Website are some of the ways this group works to help recruit, retain and train our students.
According to the Texas State University newsroom, the rankings were compiled from public data on institutions and surveys submitted to more than 1,200 schools across the country. Survey responses were weighted into six categories: Academic Policy and Compliance, Military Student Support and Retention, Graduation and Career Outcomes, Admissions and Orientation, Culture and Engagement, and Financial Aid and Loan Repayment.
Final survey results and grades are determined by combining an institution’s survey results with the institution’s assessment of the institution’s ability to meet minimum thresholds for student retention, graduation, placement, loan repayment and default rate for all students and, in particular, for veteran students. The benchmark is set by the score of the leading institution.
