UAE and Israel cooperate to advance maritime transport sector
The United Arab Emirates and Israel signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of maritime transport, the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of the strategic partnership, within the framework of the peace agreement of the Abraham Accords .
The MoU was signed by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, and Merav Michaeli, Israeli Minister of Transport and Road Safety, in the presence of a number of responsible for both parties.
The memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport, particularly maritime, and to establish a future roadmap based on mutual benefit, in addition to exchanging experiences and knowledge in the service of future guidelines for the next fifty years.
Al Mazrouei pointed out that the signing of the MoU reflects the interest of the two parties to promote cooperation in the field of maritime transport, and the will of the two countries to strengthen the scope of the bilateral partnership.
The UAE Minister stressed that the MoU will help anticipate future challenges facing the two countries in the field of transport, as well as launch pioneering initiatives to support this vital sector.
Al Mazrouei said: “The joint action between the United Arab Emirates and the Israeli parties is in line with the interests of both countries to ensure permanent economic security, stability and prosperity, and to develop and strengthen sustainable national economies”.
He added, “Both sides believe that strengthening bilateral relations would help establish stability and peace in the Middle East, stimulate economic growth, strengthen technological innovation and establish closer people-to-people relations. of the region”.
For his part, Merav said, “Economic and trade ties build and maintain political relations, and the Memorandum of Understanding we signed aims to strengthen maritime transport links between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, and will allow the trade to take place efficiently, quickly and at low cost. I am proud that relations between our two countries are taking a new step, allowing us to cooperate more closely and in a way that serves the interests of both parties and strengthens national economies.”
