Virtual Town Hall planned as part of Maui’s Transportation Improvement Program
June 5, 2021, 11:06 a.m. HST
Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization invites community members to attend a free virtual town hall via Zoom on June 15, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to learn and share feedback on federal aid transportation plans in Maui.
There will be a presentation on the proposed 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program which is available for public review. The TIP includes nearly 40 transportation projects in Maui that are priorities for federal funding over the next four years. These projects range from pavement repaving and bridge repairs to safety improvements, traffic lights, buses and complete streets projects.
By identifying our most important projects in the TIP, we can receive funding to pay for design and construction.
To register for the virtual town hall, download the latest TIP document to consult or answer a survey, go to mauimpo.org. Comments can also be emailed directly to [email protected] until June 21.
The projects listed in the current project are based on the Hele Mai Maui 2040 Long Term Transportation Plan, coordination with state and county agencies, and community input.
After public review, the DFO Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Board will review the approval of the TIP. Once finalized, Maui DFO will submit the TIP for inclusion in the statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The STIP must be reviewed and approved by the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration before Maui can receive federal funds.
